12"s

1994!- Thank You Arms and Fingers LP

Intricate, melodic and mathy post hardcore from this Lancaster, PA drum and guitar duo. Imagine Hoover in overdrive or Ghosts & Vodka with vocals. Throw in the revolution summer influence of bands like Embrace and Rites of Spring and you will start to have an idea of what to expect. On Cream colored vinyl.

Antilles 12" EP

This one-sided 12" features four chaotic tracks from some of Ohio's best. It's hard to pin down just what this band sounds like; the Dischord-ant riffs played at hyperspeed come out having obliterated any influence originally aimed for. For fans of Palatka, Faraquet, Gravity Records, and everything in between! Also features artwork by Pat Berran from ¡APESHIT! On White vinyl.

Antlers LP

Debut Record by Richmond's Antlers. Antler's play primarily instrumental mathy indie stuff more to the tune of bands like Ghost and Vodka. Vocals are minimal and song as a group, they act more like an instrument. The record was recorded at Planet Red Studios in Richmond and the band brought in Richmond musicians such as Erin Tobey, Andrew Clock, Taylor Burton, and Chris Dowhan to take the record to some next level shit. Brown vinyl w/ white spots.

The Arrivals- Marvels Of Industry LP

"Think powerful, no bullshit punk rock with a heavy Leatherface/Jawbreaker influence, especially vocal-wise. The melodies and harmonies are so spot-on that it really is the perfect fast-paced summer record everyone hunts for each summer.
Yes, Paddy from D4 plays bass on this record, and no, I’m pretty sure he has not contributed any vocals...The Arrivals have delivered one of 2007's punk rock gems with Marvels of Industry. Marvelous. " -punknews.org

Attitude Problem- S/T LP

“A curious band from Philadelphia, ATTITUDE PROBLEM is somewhat noise-rock and heavy, but not metal or hardcore - pummeling yet proggy. Side B adds guitar and is much more rock’n'roll/garage rock while keeping the sounds from side A. Despite appearing to be a four-piece, it doesn’t seem like they all play on every track. I didn’t hear any guitar on side A - it’s mostly bass and drums and there are vocals on only half the tracks. I hear a little MAN IS THE BASTARD and a little Southern hate, like BUZZOV-EN. ATTITUDE PROBLEM has similar vocals and lyrics but doesn’t really sound like either of those bands. Side B has more guitar and obvious garage rock influences, but the vocals are still nasty (in a good way). I really don’t know what to make of this.” - MAXIMUM ROCKNROLL

The Bannanas- New Animals

"On their fourth album, the Bananas haven’t really changed much. They are still playing fast, lo-fi pop punk. Yet, New Animals is refreshing in the sense that it’s incredibly energetic and gives off the feeling that the three band members are having almost too much fun playing these songs. This also happens to be the best album these guys have released so far." -punknews.org

The Bannanas- A Slippery Subject LP

The problem with indie rock? Snoozeville. The problem with The Bananas? Nothing. They take all of that promise of “musicianship” and “sensitivity” and make it crackle and flail around so you know you’re dealing with human beings, not toothpaste commercials in the making. If you like yet subtly weird, catchy-as-all hell, toe-tapping Sacramento punk with grit and crunch, The Bananas have what you’re looking for. Originally released as a CD on Plan-It-X.

Brainworms- Brainworms II: Swear To Me LP

After numerous splits, compilations, and tapes Brainworms have created Brainworms II: Swear To Me. Comprised of 10 tracks recorded by Steve Roach(Pink Razors, Off Minor, Armalite, ect.), Swear to Me is a cohesive album in which Brainworms have been building up to in the past couple of years. Brainworms have kept up their unique style of hardcore on this album that is catchy yet still keeps integrity in the vein of bands such as Rites of Spring/Embrace, Assfactor 4, and At The Drive In. For those not familar with the bands these guys have spent time in bands such as Stop It, Snacktruck, and Landmines and this is the 2nd record featuring new guitarist Josh Small. The layout of this record was crafted out of clay by Drew Liverman, who designed Brainworms' previous LP Which is Worse.

Brainworms - Which Is Worse? LP (2nd Pressing)

Repress of Brainworms Which is Worse. We Went all out on this, Gatefold Jackets, Digital Download and 180 Gram Vinyl. This record collects Brainworms first two recordings, a live studio set from 2005 and a studio recording from 2006. For those new to Brainworms, they play hardcore/punk/post-whatever win their own unique way that you can both rage and hang with. An added bonus is these dudes have played or play in some stellar groups such as Stop It, Ultra Dolphins, Snacktruck, Landmines, and Municipal Waste. Which is Worse has been guaranteed not to suck by such fine establishments as MMR, Vice, Razorcake, ect.

Cannabis Corpse- Tube OF The Resinated LP

Grow-housing the traditional "heavy" sounds cultivated by heroes of the 90's Floridian death metal scene, Richmond, Virginia's CANNABIS CORPSE bring that same sickening metal crunch back in an overt homage to CANNIBAL CORPSE and the sacred green plant that's fueled nearly 20 years of deviant metallic riffing and skull-smashing drumming that comprise the genre. Their sophomore release, "Tube of the Resinated" collects evil shredding, devilish melodies of ghoulish hunger, balanced out with well placed steamrolling death metal grooves set to an old-school battery of blasts and kick-work. Reeking with pungent infectiousness, CANNABIS CORPSE's "Tube of the Resinated" is a heady death metal release created by members of MUNICIPAL WASTE, BATTLEMASTER and PARASYTIC that will leave you totally stoned to the bone... so roll it up dude!

Cannabis Corpse- Blunted At Birth LP

The Ultimate Chronic Death Metal album released this year. A completely weeded band that features members of Municipal Waste and Battlemaster. 7 brutal chibaed tracks mixing weed and horror. A Must have for any stoned death metal fan.

Capsule- Blue LP/CD
Wrapping one’s head around what exactly CAPSULE is doing on their debut album Blue is damn-near impossible, as these three post-ADD maniacs have created one of the strangest heavy-music albums in years. This is a confounding conglomeration of blasting time-signatures, galloping punk spirit and a ghostly vocal chorus that buzzes through a mountain of guitar and bass. No other band sounds like Miami’s trio CAPSULE, just as CAPSULE sounds like no other band. Blurry, buried shouts in unison are surrounded by absolutely thunderous songs, played at speeds with every tempo in the "punk" and "metal" spectrums. Intricate melodies in bizarre tunings sneak their way into an overall unnerving amalgamation of genres, creating an anxiety-filled album of fevered beauty.

The Catalyst-Marianne's Trench

Richmond, Virginia's THE CATALYST come back with four new blasts of grunge/punk/hardcore on this one-sided, silkscreened 12". Limited to 350 copies, this version comes pressed on clear vinyl with a silkscreened B side and full color jackets. Recommended for fans of Karp, Nirvana, Melvins, Pg.99, etc.

City Of Ships- Live Free Or Don't Tour

"City of Ships is an awesomely creative and diverse outfit whose "Live Free or Don't Tour" LP collects their two prior CD EP's ("Live Free or Don't" and another limited edition EP sold only on tour) in one convenient package...Overall it's pretty damn heavy, with pounding basslines and quirky rhythms and structures that almost have a math metal sort of vibe, but there's also a constant flow of all kinds of incredibly tactful "post-" influences, from lush clean passages and swirling, spacey effects to noisier layers of intense guitar work. And somewhere in the middle there are more straightforward power chords spattered with intricately melodic runs, while the excellent vocals are generally sung, and with just the right amount of texture (occasionally leaning towards more of a melodic screaming, if that makes any sense) - influences that I'm sure some would cite as emo/indie rock leanings, though they really don't come across as such given their much more aggressive and robust surroundings. The Crumbs- Last Exit LP

Miami, FL's, THE CRUMBS formed out of their love for the RAMONES, '50s Rock n' Roll, and an excessive habit of coffee, alcohol and additional inspirations of the DEAD BOYS, the PAGANS, CRIME, the STOOGES, the MC5, and other pre-1977 punk acts. In January of 2004, THE CRUMBS broke over three years of silence with Last Exit, their fifth studio album and latest release since 2000's Out Of Range. Last Exit is a blend of raw buzz-saw guitars and classic Rock n' Roll melodies, drug through the greasy pavements of the South, through big city dark alleys, and ending in the States' last exit-Miami! This sound can only be described in one way...ASSAULTING!!!

Environmental Youth Crunch- Lets Ride LP

St Augustine's Environmental Youth Crunch digs Woody Guthrie, CCR, swimming, camping, bikes, making their own fuel and beer, all outdoors Florida has to offer, and sings about Florida environmental politics. EYC plays pop punk rock. They talk about ideas important to them between songs-rare around here these days given the swell to embrace the nightlife and not the day we've got to navigate too. EYC steers through both fluidly and with purpose. They offer ideas and actions towards something heavy directly affecting us and they do it in their sweaty underwear. Let's Ride is their first full length album. Let's Ride our rusty bikes into the ocean. . .Let's Ride on biodiesel touring throughout Florida. . . Let's Ride in opposition to those Disney cowboy chumps on the cover in the rodeo to overdevelop EYC's beloved state.

Genghis Tron- Board Up The House Remixes Vol 5 LP

...Board Up The House Remixes Vol. 5 is the final installment of the five-volume remix series that has been produced in co-operation between Genghis Tron and five labels (Relapse, Lovepump United, Anticon, Temporary Residence Ltd., and Crucial Blast), and features a myriad number of artists reshaping and reimagining various songs off of Genghis Tron's 2008 album Board Up The House (Relapse Records). Each volume is pressed in a run of 1,000 copies on colored vinyl that ties in with the sleeve art. Board Up The House cover artist, Jon Beasley, has provided each remix album with alternative artwork. The Crucial Blast entry in the Board Up The House remix series features Tim Hecker (Mille Plateaux, Alien8, Staalplaat, Fat Cat) turning the title track "Board Up The House" into a fuzz-entombed bliss-scape, Aidan Baker/Nadja's fifteen-minute glacial vision of "I Won't Come Back Alive", and another remix of "I Won't Come Back Alive" rendered as a blur of distorted electro by Dudes You Can Trust, which is the solo project of Michael Sochynsky from G-Tron taking a heavy mangle approach. This remix platter is easily the most distortion-laden entry in the series...

Haram LP (Euro Version)
Few current acts can match the intensity and vibrancy of Haram. Haram's members boast an impressive hardcore pedigree, a resume that spans a decade and over 1000 shows between the individual members with stints in Majority Rule, Pg. 99, and the Out_Circuit. On this spectacular debut, Haram mines disparate facets of punk and noise to conjure something wholly cohesive and engaging. Their first full-length effort is truly a moody and atmospheric masterpiece.

Helms Alee- Night Terror

Seattle has been no stranger to dirty, heavy bands...but newcomers HELMS ALEE propel the city’s longrunning music reputation to the next level of awesomeness. Marrying the best parts of grunge and the rock trinity of punk, indie and stoner varieties, this powerful trio lay waste with their debut album "Night Terror". Ten tracks that run the gamut of psychedelic grit, western-ish drugged out drone jams, delicate melodic passages and most of all, ferociously crushing heavy rock. These truly hypnotic songs also benefit from a healthy balance of soaring vocals into the triumphant chorus of male and female yells.

Indian Summer- Hidden Arithmetic LP

Do you remember the days when emo actually meant to be emo?! There has been no other band like Indian Summer that created that kind style so unique. All of the band's songs remastered on vinyl for the first time in a long time. Every record comes w/ inlays and a nice poster, printed w/ silver ink. Just beautiful. Live at the Blue Universe is by the way the most intense recording they did - even if its "live"

Kind Generator CD/LP

King Generator is Jamie Thomson (Shank, the Process) on guitar, Mike Hill (Anodyne, Tombs) on Bass, Vocals and Dave Witte (Discordance Axis, Municipal Waste) on drums. They play brutal fast hardcore violence. Sick packaging includes 12" record w/ laser etched b-side, screen printed covers and cd version included.

Modern Machines- "Take It, Somebody!" LP

The Modern Machines have often been described as classic upper Midwestern punk filtered thru a modern day basement punk sensibility. Husker Du meets early Replacements meets early Lemonheads (remember when they were good?) meets Dillinger 4 meets The Figgs? While these comparisons are fairly apt, Take It, Somebody, sees the band incorporating older and more diverse influences into their distinctive songwriting style, including 60's garage rock and even some Americana-esque twang. These guys (rabid record collectors all) know their music history, and it shows. One of the hardest working bands in the American punk underground, The Modern Machines are already on their fourth CD (including a split with The Fragments and the Thawp CD, both on New Disorder, plus last year's Taco Blessing LP/CD on Recess), as well as several cassettes and singles, plus an upcoming split LP/CD on Wisconsin's Crustacean Records. Check 'em out!

Off Minor- Some Blood LP/MP3

The third full length from this influential DIY hardcore band. Off Minor have now been around for almost eight years and this record continues to build and expand their unique mix of hardcore, jazz, and punk along with the intense, beautiful lyrics they are known for. This record represents what Off Minor has been and continues to be: a meaningful and moving representation of what hardcore punk can be. This artwork also features original artwork by Nishat Akhtar and guest vocals by Jess Kamen (1905, Fighting Dogs).

Outclassed- "This Could be Coincidence…" LP/CD

"Think spastic hammer-on/pull-off riffs and winding discordance with a sense of "controlled chaos", bashing percussion, and of course intensely screamed vocals. A lot of bands that fall into this realm can tend towards the more irritating side of things, but that's absolutely not the case here at all. Whether it's super dense, fuzzed out basslines and overdriven guitar textures that crumble into grizzled feedback from time to time, slightly more relaxed and melodic breathers, or peppy rhythmic jaunts that bring more of a math/noise rock element into play within the arrangements. Good stuff. I don't follow this style very closely, but every now and then I'm introduced to a band that really nails it, and Outclassed is definitely one of those bands." -Aversionline.com

Population Reduction- Each Birth A New Disaster

San Francisco's 2 man guitar/drum unit come forth with their debut album after a great ep on Tankcrimes in 2006. 15 tracks of killer Death Metal, Grind and Thrash. Blast beats and speed picking galore but knows when to slow down and focus on some serious catchy riffs. A must for fans of old Morbid Angel, Terrorizer and Napalm Death, these tracks could seriously fit flawlessly on Earache's '89 "Grind Crusher" compilation. LP packaged in a stunning gatefold with art by Becky Cloonan.

Pygmy Lush- Mount Hope LP

Pygmy Lush, whose members have cut their teeth in some of Northern Virginia's most influential hardcore bands of the last decade including Pg.99, Majority Rule, Malady, City of Caterpillar and Crestfallen, return with their much anticipated second full-length, Mount Hope. Pygmy Lush formed in the spring of 2005 on the very day two of their previous bands, Malady and Mannequin broke up. They started out by carrying on much of the same ferocity of their previous endeavors but a massive change was afoot. Somewhere in their early practices they had started four-tracking several quieter songs with acoustic guitars and minimal percussion.
Mount Hope was recorded at Godcity by Kurt Ballou (Converge) and mastered at Silver Sonya by TJ Lipple (Aloha). The band plans on touring the U.S. & Europe extensively in 2008 to support the record.

Screeching Weasel- Boogadaboogadaboogada

Screeching Weasel- My Brain Hurts

Re-issue from 1991, now on colored vinyl with full-color gatefold packaging and brand new artwork by the marvelous Miss Cristy Road. Snotty, pop punk about the dumber, more bitter-sweet things in life. This album is believed to be Screeching Weasel's best, but pop punk's not about beliefs now is it?

Shark Pants- Porno Snakehead LP

Theres something going down in Tuscon. Some of the most overlooked bands are there right as i type. Desperation & heat can drive people fukn crazy to the brink of total gnarlyness sending them home from the bank with nothing but a negative balanced statement and a shitty toaster. Luckily bands like SHARK PANTS get together and channel it all thru amps. Members of SWING DING AMIGOS & THE BLACKS.

Spires- Flowers and Fireworks LP

250 copies on green black swirl Debut LP from this Oakland five piece that play epic chaotic hardcore in the vein of Envy, Funeral Diner or Modern Life Is War.

 The Third Memory- S/T LP

While most bands have been reduced to manufactured, caricature-like chaos and screams, The Third Memory proves that there is true energy, and passion remaining hardcore. Taking nods from bands such as La Quiete , Tristan Tzara and Orchid, The Third Memory create brand of hardcore that is chaotic yet hypnotically beautiful. Frantic screams against a backdrop of wavering guitar sounds and propulsive drumming, The Third Memory remind me of the raw beauty that the hardcore can possess as means of expression. This LP is limited to 600 pieces all on black vinyl.

The Third Memory "et de cela rien ne resort" LP

The Third Memory excel at laying down passionate screamy hardcore that takes cues from bands like La Quiete, Tristan Tzara as well as Orchid. The emotion conveyed through the twelve scorching tracks on this album tears down any walls that language may place in front of us. This LP pressing contains a non CD bonus track. beautifully screened covers and inserts.

Erin Tobey LP
Erin Tobey creates songs that are sometimes beautiful, shy and fragile, while at other times are self-assured, powerful declarations on what it is to be alive. Erin does a great job conveying the emotion of love through well-thought lyrics, and sparse, almost ghostly instrumentation. For the most part, the recording is just a space-echoed voice, and a cleanly fingerpicked Danelectro guitar. But Erin adds many subtle touches like air organs, ukeleles, and the occasional sound of a distant, marching snare drum.
People might know of Erin from her other bands, Abe Froman and Mt. Gigantic, or perhaps from Here It Is zine.

Torche- S/T LP (Remastered)
With gloriously sung, harmonized and soaring vocal arrangements accompanying the most monolithic riffs of modern times, TORCHE reaches to push the envelope and then engulfs it in flames. Call it "stoner pop"or "exquisite brutality"... call it whatever you want. In the end, TORCHE are still a major force to fuck with, and undeniable leaders of an incredible new style of heavy music.
This is the deluxe, fully re-mixed and re-mastered edition of TORCHE’s debut album.

Toys That Kill- Shanked! LP

The third album from San Pedro, California's TOYS THAT KILL (ex-F.Y.P.). Shanked!-Named after band member (and Recess chief) TODD CONGELLIERE's cat Boris' tendency to strike without warning- features the band in full attack mode, delivering punk hit after punk hit that straddle the line between scary and cute. For fans of Bent Outta Shape, Arrivals, Tiltwheel, Grabass Charlestons, Soviettes, and the like.

Ultra Dolphins-Mar

ULTRA DOLPHINS debut album, briefly titled "MAR", represents a fairly major departure from the band's previous spazz-oriented, garage band freak-outs. Without losing focus on songwriting, the off-kilter structures move continually forward building up frantic but calculated momentum. Several piano tracks accompany drums and noisy guitars along with well-placed vocal melodies. The result is a dizzying but somehow unified listening experience which features a band at the height of their creative prowess. Richmond! The packaging for this thing is equally intense, with a nice full-color jacket and large 12-page song book. A solid debut album to say the least, and a true masterpiece to say the most! This copy is on "metallic" gold vinyl w/ silver streaks!

Vitamin X- Full Scale Assault

After touring throughout the world, Dutch hardcore punk giants Vitamin X return with their first recorded output in 3 years. Finally capturing the manic aggression of their notorious live shows while truely showcasing their songwriting skills and musicianship. VX take their furious hardcore sound even further into the realms of 70's rock riffage and wild guitar solos, never letting up on the high energy thrash punk. Recorded and Engineered at Electrical Audio Studios in Chicago by Steve Albini (Nirvana, Neurosis) it has an enormous sound. The album features lead vocals by Negative Approach's John Brannon on 2 songs and amazing artwork by John Baizley (Baroness, Pig Destroyer). This is a serious hardcore masterpiece.

 Wildildlife- Peas Feast 12" & MP3

Split LPs

Burial Year/Zann Split 12"
BURIAL YEAR (RIP) from San Francisco offer the final recordings including a UNBROKEN cover song. Burial Year has been the follow up band of bands like TAKARU & A LIGHT IN THE ATTIC. Burial Year play once again metallic brutal hardcore like they did w/ Takaru. The recordings kill everything. ZANN have one new pretty long tune and a CHOKEHOLD cover. All records come w/ a nice gatefold w/ artwork by Adam Hunt NOTE - the plant mixed up the labels on the A/B side. So Burial Year is under the Zann label and the other way around.

JESU/BatttleOf Mice split LP

Several years in the making, the long-awaited JESU / BATTLE OF MICE split is finally available. Each band has two exclusive, lengthy tracks on this limited edition release. JESU, comprised of the cult-followed Justin K. Broadrick, showcases "Clear Stream" and "Falling From Grace", two pieces towards the darker end of the spectrum he’s created under the JESU moniker. BATTLE OF MICE contribute the two most sinister songs they’ve recorded, "The Bishop" and "Yellow & Black". Heavier than the material found on their A Day Of Nights debut yet more dynamic overall, these two final (?) tracks from BATTLE OF MICE compliment the JESU material well. While both bands utilize traditional "heavy" music instruments, they are also unified by usage of keys, atmospherics, and general unique elements thrown in to vary it all.

Pygmy Lush/Turboslut split 12"

A record that Ive been waiting for since I saw both bands together almost two years ago! Pygmy Lush brings their usual loud noisy rock to the table, with a side serving of a couple haunting acoustic tunes. The best they've churned out yet! Turboslut hold their own on their side as they continue with the sludged out grunge that they hinted at on their demo. Like a female Flipper and Harvey Milk combined, or a modern Dickless, Turboslut pushes feedback layered heavy music forward. DO NOT MISS THIS ONE!!!
